Lincoln – Lancaster County State Legislative
Candidate Forum

Join us on August 25th, Lincoln and Lancaster State Legislative candidates will convene to discuss key sustainability issues facing the state of Nebraska, and what they will do to address them if elected. Eleven Candidates for District 2, 26, 28, 30, 32 and 46 have been invited to the forum. This candidate forum provides an opportunity for voters to get to know the candidates and their positions on sustainability issues facing the city of Lincoln.
The event is free and open to the public. A brief social gathering with refreshments will be available following the forum to mingle with the candidates.
The forum is sponsored by: Bluestem Sierra Club; Citizens Climate Lobby, Lincoln Chapter; Climate Action Team, First Plymouth Congregational Church; Climate Action Team, Unitarian Church of Lincoln; Elder Climate Legacy; Lincoln Coalition for Environmental Improvement; Nebraska Interfaith Power and Light; Nebraskans for Peace; Unitarian Church of Lincoln, Green Sanctuary Committee and Wachiska Audubon Society.
Youth Climate Action Fund
Nebraska IPL would like to support youth interested in applying for funds towards a climate project. We are especially looking to support youth groups that might be wanting to complete a project. We can provide support for those interested in building raingardens, bioretention swales, or other water quality or prairie projects around places of worship.
The Youth Climate Action Fund offers $1,000–$5,000 microgrants for young people ages 15–24 to lead real climate projects right here in our city. Lincoln is one of 300 cities worldwide selected to participate in this exciting initiative, supported by Bloomberg Philanthropies. Projects should address one or more of the following areas: Climate Resilience, Local Food, Waste Reduction, or Transportation. The official call for proposals will open on August 26th and close on October 7th.
Awarded grant funds will be disbursed Nov. 13, 2026, and projects must be completed by April 15, 2027.

Nebraska Youth Climate Summit

The Summit will be held at the UNL East Campus Union from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
