Position Overview
The Executive Director (ED) is the lead staffer for NEIPL, reporting to the Board of Directors. The ED provides overall leadership for the organization and works closely with other paid staff to ensure progress on its mission, strategic direction, advocacy goals, and fundraising. This is a part-time position (15–20 hours/week) with flexible scheduling, designed to focus on high-impact leadership while leveraging volunteers, board members, and coalition partners.The ED is expected to seek effective ways to foster relationships with people of all faiths and creeds to sustain a collective effort to embrace faith, spirituality, justice, hope, courage, and love as the mutual commitments of mindful humans toward healthy, ecological relationships with one another and the earth.

Key Responsibilities
Advocacy & Public Engagement
Serve as the chief spokesperson and advocate for climate justice in Nebraska’s faith community.
Track legislative developments and coordinate testimony, hearings, and coalition work during the legislative session.
Build strong relationships with policymakers, community leaders, and faith partners.
Represent NEIPL in coalitions (e.g., Green Call, IPL national network).
Organizational Leadership & Board Support
Work with the board to update and execute the annual plan and advocacy priorities.
Provide staff support to board committees (Finance, Nominations, Advocacy, etc.).
Ensure board members are well-informed and engaged in NEIPL’s work.
Support board recruitment and leadership development.
Fundraising & Development
Lead fundraising campaigns, including Give to Lincoln Day, membership drives, and end-of-year appeals.
Cultivate relationships with individual donors, congregations, and foundations.
Write and manage grants, reports, and compliance filings.
Program & Faith Community Engagement
Support congregations in launching Creation Care ministries, Earth Day, and Climate Justice Month activities.
Develop partnerships with faith leaders and congregations for education, energy stewardship, and advocacy programs.
Organize annual and seasonal events (e.g., Legislative Dinner, Climate Justice Summer, Membership Campaigns).
Administration & Compliance
Oversee finances, budgeting, and reporting in partnership with the Treasurer and Finance Committee.
File IRS Form 990, lobbyist reports, and state/national compliance forms.
Manage communications tools (email, website, NationBuilder, social media).
Ensure smooth operations of the organization, including deposits, donor tracking, and communications.

Qualifications
Commitment to the mission of NEIPL and passion for faith-rooted climate justice.
Experience in nonprofit leadership, advocacy, or faith-based organizing (paid or volunteer).
Strong skills in relationship-building, public speaking, and coalition work.
Ability to manage budgets, fundraising campaigns, and grant writing.
Comfortable working independently with limited staff support, and leveraging volunteers.
Familiarity with Nebraska’s legislative process and political landscape preferred.

Time Commitment & Compensation
Part-time: 15–20 hours/week (seasonal variation; more during legislative session, lighter in summer).
Flexible schedule with some evening/weekend events required.
Compensation commensurate with experience and organizational budget (to be discussed with candidates).
